About
Lynn Staley, PhD, (she/they) is a Teaching Professor in the Department of English and faculty affiliate in Gender Studies. She coordinates the Business Writing Program, and is an advocate for community engagement, service-learning, and inclusive, equitable, and anti-racist practices. She writes short fiction and poetry, and is a proud and grateful UMSL alumna and first generation college graduate. She completed her Bachelor’s degree at Kalamazoo College in Michigan, her home state, and her MA at UMSL and PhD at St. Louis University. She is a jazz lover and proud step-mom who shares her home with her husband, an architect and audiophile, and her herd of rescued dogs and cats. She is a former Faculty Athletics Representative for UMSL, and has been the recipient of the College of Arts and Sciences Award for Non-Tenure Track Faculty, the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence to a Non-Tenure Track Faculty member, the UMSL Hero Award, and the Legendary Triton Award. She enjoys supporting UMSL Athletics by attending many games and matches, swimming, and singing with UMSL’s Voices of Jubilation Gospel Choir (although not all at the same time).
