Deborah Aldrich-Watson has been on the faculty at UMSL since 1982. She is the author of John Donne and Contemporary Literary Criticism and The Verse Miscellany of Constance Aston Fowler: A Diplomatic Edition as well as several essays. She has broad experience in teaching both composition and literature and currently teaches courses in the poetry and prose of Renaissance and Early Modern England, including Early Modern Women Writers, the Bible for Students of Literature, and Spenser and Milton. She was an Associate Dean in the College of Arts and Sciences from 1987-1994 and Chair of the English Department in 1999-2000. She states that humanities classes “can and should shape a world view that allows each of us to see the value of each person we come in contact with and each culture and opinion we encounter.”
