Hi, I’m Sylvia Harris, the Director of Academic Advising and Student Services. I started my journey at UMSL as a student and then later went on to become a member of the professional staff. My academic history includes a Bachelor of Arts in Communication, a MA in Teaching , and a Masters in Higher Education Administration from UMSL. While completing my masters at UMSL, I had the opportunity to work as a Financial Aid Advisor in the Office of Student Financial Aid. After graduating in December 2012, I joined the advising team in the College of Arts and Sciences as an academic advisor. My advising areas are Communication and Interdisciplinary Studies. I love working at UMSL, but most importantly I love working with our students as they navigate through their college career.
On a personal note, I enjoy sunny days and ice cream. I am a huge fan of HGTV: House Hunters!
