Career Outlook

Graduates from the Department of Computer Science have little difficulty in finding positions in industry, government, and education. The demand for individuals well-trained in computer science is greater than the available supply. We also offer explicit sought-after specializations via graduate certificates, which can be taken separately from a degree program or as a part of the degree program.

Full-Time, Part-Time, Online Study, Practical Training

Programs can be completed either full-time or part-time. Visa students need to maintain government-required full-time status except the summer, with some exceptions. Domestic student who have full-time employment normally pursue the degree part-time. There are rules on the time limits on completion of degree requirements and the requirements for minimum enrollment. A student not enrolled for two consequtive semesters will have to reapply.

All courses can be taken evening and/or online however at present only the M.S. in Cybersecurity is guaranteed to be available fully online if desired. International students can complete the fully-online M.S. in Cybersecurity program without presence on campus. Other programs can be completed online if appropriate coursework is available online.

International students can also take some online courses before arriving and then arrive here to complete a program but note you must be here some minimum time to qualify for practical training opportunities. We also offer an internship course that allows any student, including visa holders, to get practical training before graduation.

The Graduate School maintains online copies of its Rules and Regulations including the definition of normal course loads and the definition of full-time.
