The Accelerated Master of Science in Cybersecurity with Computer Science emphasis program at the University of Missouri – St. Louis presents an opportunity for highly motivated students to deepen their education with a Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, after completing any departmental Bachelor’s and with savings of up to 12 credit hours total.
Benefits and Highlights
A student in the program can complete both any departmental BS and then the MS in Computer Cybersecurity with Computer Science Emphasis program with savings of up to 12 credits but using some credits toward both degrees. The student gets the BS when its requirements are completed and continues into the MS part-time or full-time, right away or within one year. However, to take advantage of the credit savings the accelerated program must be started with no less than 24-30 credits before completing BS.
The department allows any departmental major into this program as long as the MS in Cybersecurity with Computer Science Emphasis entry requirements are satisfied by the time of BS graduation.
Optimized Coursework and Time Management

Taking full advantage of the savings requires careful planning before completing the BS program, with the help of the program coordinator.
Research Opportunities and Professional Development
Upon completing their undergraduate degree requirements, students are in full graduate standing allowing them any benefit available to graduate students including Graduate Teaching or Research Assistant positions. This opportunity enhances students' professional development, prepares them for future careers in academia or industry, and provides a competitive edge in the job market.
Rigorous Admission Criteria and Selection Process
Applicants must meet stringent admission criteria, including a minimum GPA of 3.0, two letters of recommendation, and a compelling statement of purpose. The student also should apply no later than 24-30 credits from completing their BS to take full advantage of the savings.
