November 22, 2024 - Transforming UMSL Together: A Message of Thanks

Dear UMSL Community,

As we progress through the fall semester and prepare for its conclusion in December, I am struck by the incredible momentum and transformation taking place at the University of Missouri–St. Louis. From the achievements of our students to the efforts of our faculty and staff, and the transformative investments reshaping our campus, this is a remarkable time to be a Triton.

This fall, we have seen the tangible impact of our mission to transform lives—whether through our academic programs, the vibrant energy of our students, or the physical transformation of our campus. Projects like our recently upgraded Children’s Advocacy Center, the deconstruction of the Social Science and Business Building Tower to make way for its modernized replacement to become home for the College of Education ad Honors College, and the ongoing construction of the Richter Family Welcome and Alumni Center exemplify our commitment to creating spaces that inspire learning, collaboration and community. I shared an update in a video this week as we hosted the University of Missouri Board of Curators on our campus and invite you to learn more about the advancements of our Transform UMSL initiative.

These transformations go beyond bricks and mortar; they reflect our dedication to empowering our students to succeed and ensuring UMSL remains a vital force in St. Louis. Together, we are not just reshaping our campus—we are creating pathways for opportunity, innovation and shared prosperity for our region.

As we begin our fall break, I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude to each of you. To our students: thank you for entrusting us with your dreams and aspirations. To our faculty and staff: your dedication and passion are the bedrock of our success. It is your unwavering commitment that allows us to fulfill our mission and continue making a meaningful difference.

As we look ahead to the final weeks of the semester and the new opportunities that await us in 2025, let us carry forward the spirit of resilience, determination, and collaboration that defines our Triton community. Together, we will continue transforming lives, our campus, the St. Louis region and far beyond.

Gratefully forward,

Kristin Sobolik
