August 14, 2024 - Holly Sheilley named UMSL Executive Director of Athletics
Dear UMSL Colleagues,
Following an extensive national search, we are pleased to announce that Dr. Holly Sheilley will join our community on September 18 as our new Executive Director of UMSL Athletics.
Dr. Sheilley is currently in her eleventh year at Transylvania University, where she serves as Vice President of Athletics and is responsible for 23 NCAA-sponsored sport teams in addition to co-ed eventing, cheer, and dance teams with over 500 student-athletes. The athletic department has reached unparalleled heights during her tenure, and we are confident that she will also move UMSL Athletics to new heights.
Prior to Transylvania University, Dr. Sheilley served as the assistant director of championships for the NCAA where, she managed four Division I Championships, including two of the largest in terms of student-athlete participants, as well as five Division III Championships. Additionally, she served as assistant director for student development and championships at the University of Louisville for over eight years.
We want to extend our sincere thanks to the members of the AD Executive Search Committee – co-chaired by Tanisha Stevens and Joe Pickard – and Double L Consulting for attracting an exceptionalpool of candidates to fill this important role, which will oversee our 19 comprehensive athletics programs and over 290 student-athletes. We also wish to once again share our appreciation for AD Lori Flanagan for her nearly two-decade impact on our athletic program.
As we look ahead, UMSL Athletics is well-positioned to uphold our tradition of academic and competitive excellence while further aligning with and advancing the university's mission and strategic goals. We look forward to working with Holly to this end and hope that you will join us in welcoming her to our Triton community.
