December 12, 2022 - An end of the semester message from Chancellor Kristin Sobolik
Dear University Community,
As finals week begins, I want to offer each of you — students, faculty, and staff alike — my sincere gratitude for your efforts this semester as well as some well-deserved encouragement for the tasks yet to be done. Trust me when I say: I see you. You’ve got this. We’ve got this.
Every time we close a semester together, I feel a great sense of pride for all we’ve accomplished collectively. And I’m always deeply inspired by the collective drive of our people and the success I’m so fortunate to witness. This semester is certainly no exception.
As we embark on our campus-wide transformation; as we celebrate a year of truly transformative work with the St. Louis Anchor Action Network; as we celebrate faculty and staff who care deeply about their work and each other; as we give due recognition to the many remarkable UMSL students who defy enormous odds and breakthrough tremendous barriers to transform their own lives — I am never without countless reminders of just how proud I am of what we accomplish together.
Thank you! Job well done, everyone!
May we all end the semester with this same sense of pride. May we find the rest, rejuvenation, and time to spend with loved ones that this holiday season can bring. And may we come back safely to do it all again in the spring, because we are always at our best when we are together.
Finally, to our more than 900 Tritons who will graduate this Saturday, let me officially be the first, yet undoubtedly not the last, to say: Congratulations! You did it. You deserve the time to take it all in, to celebrate your heart out, and to feel full of hope and delight about what’s to come. You make us #UMSLproud!
Gratefully forward,
Kristin Sobolik
