September 13, 2021 - UMSL is on the rise in the latest US News 'Best Colleges' rankings
Dear UMSL Community,
I am pleased to share that the University of Missouri–St. Louis remains on the rise in the latest US News ‘Best Colleges’ rankings which were released today. UMSL was again included in the Tier 1 research university category and rose an unprecedented 42 spots in the overall rankings over the last two years to now rank No. 239 among all national, public and private universities.
UMSL also rose eight spots this year to rank No. 118 among all public universities – both of these rankings are our university’s highest ever. In the past two years alone, UMSL has climbed 22 spots among all public universities and we also broke last year’s record to earn our highest-ever total score in the 17 measures U.S. News uses to inform its rankings.
I am also proud to share that we have retained our ranking among the nation’s Top Performers for Social Mobility for the third straight year since the rankings were established. This measure highlights how well universities have graduated students who receive federal Pell Grants.
These rankings are a reflection of our outstanding students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends that make up the fabric of this great institution. I have no doubt that if we continue to focus our collective work on advancing our students, faculty and staff and embrace an emphasis on outcomes, that UMSL will be a Top 100 national public university. I invite you to read more about this year’s rankings on UMSL Daily.
With Triton Pride,
Kristin Sobolik
