September 23, 2019 - Share your voice in establishing an UMSL Cultural Center
Dear UMSL community,
It has been an exciting start to the new academic year as we continue to take action on our university’s strategic plan to transform lives. Among the actions outlined within our Inclusive Excellence Compact is the development of an UMSL Cultural Center that will provide a framework for programming and support for our diverse populations.
Since September 2018, the UMSL Cultural Center Committee – co-chaired by Associate Professor Felia Davenport and LGBTQ+ Coordinator Harry Hawkins – has worked to provide a draft report to the university community that offers recommendations to guide the formation of an UMSL Cultural Center.
This draft report is now available for your review and comment on the UMSL Cultural Center webpage. Please engage in its content and share your voice with the committee by using the online form to submit your ideas, comments and questions. You are also welcome to share your feedback directly with Co-Chairs Felia Davenport and Harry Hawkins, Vice Provost for Student Affairs Curtis Coonrod or Associate Provost for Academic Affairs Marie Mora. Moreover, we have started scheduling in-person discussions with key stakeholder groups, and further welcome the opportunity to meet with departments, programs and other related units/groups to discuss the committee's recommendations. Your feedback is essential as we work with both urgency and focus to establish an UMSL Cultural Center of which we can all be proud.
Lastly, a special thanks goes to the co-chairs and members of the UMSL Cultural Center Committee for their dedication to transforming lives through this important and enduring initiative.
Best regards,
Kristin
