Rec Side: The shallow, recreational (rec) side of the pool features volleyball net (upon request), underwater benches, hydrotherapy jets and the vortex. Depth ranges from 4 feet at the bottom of the entrance steps to 3 ½ feet at the vortex. This area is great for families and may be used during most times of the day except during scheduled classes.
Lap Side: The large, rectangular area that features a basketball hoop, diving board and zip line. Depth ranges from 4 feet near the entry to 12 feet at the window end. This multi-purpose space has a varied schedule to accommodate lap swimming, programs and open swim features. Check the schedule for availability.
Lap Swim: During scheduled times, lanes on the lap side of the pool are reserved for continuous swimming. Features on the lap side may not available depending on the number of lap lanes in use. Swimmers are expected to share lanes during peak times or when lanes are limited due to Open Swim or scheduled programs.
Open Swim: During scheduled times, the lap side of the pool is converted to allow participants to use features such as the basketball hoop, diving board and zip line. Not all features are available during Open Swim, so call ahead for availability. Flotation devices are not allowed on the deep water features and lifeguards may administer a swim test to check for swimming ability and comfort level in deep water.
Vortex: The semi-circular structure near the far end of the pool in 3 ½ feet of water. Has jets that when turned on, cause the water to move in a clockwise motion. Participants may swim with the current as a leisure option or walk against the current for fitness/therapy purposes. Flotation devices are not allowed in the vortex and adults may not assist small children. Each participant must be able to enter and exit independently.
Hot tub: The large circular structure at the far end of the pool, separate from the main pool. Hydrotherapy jets direct water toward the middle of the hot tub, and the water is a constant temperature of 103°F. Members and guests age 13 and older may use the hot tub independently. The hot tub is open during regular Natatorium hours, but may be closed for special activities or maintenance.
