What does AACSB-Accredited mean to you?

AACSB logoAll degrees and graduate certificate programs at the University of Missouri - St. Louis College of Business Administration carry the prestigious accreditation of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

UMSL is the only public university in the region to carry dual AACSB accreditations for business and accounting programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Less than six percent of schools worldwide granting business degrees have earned AACSB Accreditation. Even fewer hold our dual accreditation such as UMSL.

Why are other programs claiming to be fully accredited?

Other schools admit that the term "fully accredited" means that the institution as a whole (not the business school) holds accreditation from a regional accrediting body. For example, UMSL holds institutional accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission. The AACSB designation is an additional tier of accreditation specific to the university's business degree programs.

Is AACSB membership the same as being AACSB-Accredited?

No. If a school is an AACSB member, this is a paid status like other member organizations. AACSB accreditation is based on regular and comprehensive reviews of a university's business and accounting curriculum, faculty, facilities, technology, and resources.

Why should you care?

UMSL's AACSB-accredited business programs meet rigorous requirements, including:

  • Faculty engaged in cutting-edge research and up-to-date with the most recent developments in their fields.
  • Degree programs are designed to provide you with the knowledge, tools, and skills you need to be successful in your career and prepare you for a lifetime of learning (and earning!).
  • Having a defined mission and vision as well as a plan to accomplish it and seeks to continuously improve via annual reevaluations, assessment, and strategic planning.

AACSB accreditation ensures that students receive quality educational from faculty experts.
