Michele D. Meckfessel, CPA (NC), PhD is originally from O’Fallon, Il. She received a BA in Mathematics from Illinois Wesleyan University, an MS in Accounting from Appalachian State University, and a PhD in Business Administration from Virginia Tech. Her research interests include the capital market effects of financial reporting and income taxes. Current projects include the impact of textual content of tax footnotes as well as the impact and cause of tax-related financial statement restatements.
Prior to joining academia, Michele served as an SH-60B helicopter pilot in the U.S. Navy and attained the rank of Commander. Additionally, she worked in tax compliance and tax consulting with the public accounting firms of McGladrey & Pullen, LLP and Grant Thornton, LLP, both in Charlotte NC. In her free time she enjoys swimming, biking, running and spending time with her three kids and husband.
