General Information
The School of Social Work at the University of Missouri-St. Louis includes the Social Work and Gerontology programs. The School's faculty are distinguished scholars committed to excellence in teaching and research in a wide range of specialties. These include child welfare, gerontology, community organization, addictions, social service policy, and international social work. The School’s programs work closely with the agencies in the St. Louis region, and students are able to select internships from more than 400 area social service agencies.
Social work prepares students for professional practice in schools, juvenile and adult courts, hospitals, community development agencies, counseling agencies, agencies serving older adults, state social service agencies, and other organizations and agencies serving individuals, families, groups and communities.
Gerontology is an interdisciplinary program with faculty from anthropology, biology, economics, nursing, optometry, psychology, and social work. Students may also take courses in Business Administration or Nonprofit Management.

Courses may be completed through day or evening coursework (BSW) or through evening courses (MSW, MSG).Credit courses are also offered off-campus though University Outreach.
