We are currently recruiting participants for the studies below. Please click on the sections below to find out more information about each study.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between social media behavior and individual differences in your style of thinking about yourself (e.g., thoughts related to your memories or feelings) and your ability to pay attention. We are looking for research participants who are 18 years of age or older and have an Instagram profile. Participants must not have any neurological conditions (e.g. epilepsy). If you qualify, you will be invited to complete the study online. Your participation will include the following: posting a selfie or interacting with Instagram, completing a working memory task, completing various questionnaires that assess your mood, thoughts, and beliefs, as well as your ability to focus. This study takes about 30-45 minutes and you will receive a $15 Amazon gift card for completing the study. To find out more or to sign up, please email our lab at locans@umsl.edu
The purpose of this study is to look at the relationship between various stressful and traumatic life events (e.g. divorce, financial difficulties) and movement on a computer task (e.g., when moving a mouse on a computer screen). Participants are eligible to complete this study if they are over the age of 18 years old, have no psychological (e.g. depression, anxiety, PTSD) or neurological conditions (e.g. epilepsy, TBI, etc.) and have not participated in the Stress, Movement, or Control study or the Control and Well-being study in the LoCANS lab.
