The information contained in these lecture notes derives from a wide variety of sources, yet the assigned texts: Goode's, "Drugs in American Society" and Inciardi and McElrath's, "The American Drug Scene", are the primary sources (see the syllabus for references). Oakley Ray and Charles Ksir's, "Drugs, Society, and Human Behavior 8th edition) has also been used as a source for much of the information relating to specific drugs. Additionally, The Sociology of American Drug Use, Faupel, Horowitz, and Weaver, McGraw-Hill, 2004 (2nd edition, Oxford Press, 2010), is another important resource for information relating to drugs and crime, the drug industry, and other concerns. For further documentation and/or sources on specific information contained in these notes, please contact Prof. Keel.
