Community Partners
Linking University to Community!
UMSL Students of Service, in partnership with Beyond Housing, the Normandy School District and other community-based organizations, are working to create service projects and service-learning courses that provide foreclosure prevention activities, nonprofit capacity building, neighborhood improvement efforts and mentoring and tutoring programs for the surrounding communities.
Service projects and ongoing partnerships have been created with:
- Beyond Housing
- Pagedale Family Resource Center
- Citizens for the Advancement of Normandy
- Girls, Inc.
- Normandy School District
- St. Ann Catholic School
- St. Vincent’s Children’s Home
UMSL SOS is also working to support the local area’s 24:1 Initiative, a comprehensive community development model that is a partnership led by Beyond Housing. UMSL faculty and staff are serving on the following 24:1 subcommittees:
- Education
- Community Health and Wellness
- Asset Building
- Housing and Economic Development
