Biographical Narrative:

Linda Vawter is a lecturer and an Academic Advisor for the School of Social Work at UM-St. Louis.  She does advising for pre-social work majors, as well as students who have been accepted in the BSW program. She teaches a variety of courses at the BSW level during th Fall and Winter semesters and works with field education in the summers.

She has her B.A. from Illinois State University, her MSW from Washington University and is a licensed clinical social worker in the state of Missouri.

Prior to joining the faculty at UMSL, Linda served as a Foster Care Supervisor for the Missouri Division of Family Services, now known as the Children's Division.  Prior to being a supervisor, she worked as a foster care worker trying to achieve permanency for children who had been removed from their families by the court system.

From 1995 to 2008, she coordinated the Title IV-E Child Welfare Traineeship program at UMSL.

She currently serves on the BSW Admissions Committee.
