Dr. David A. Ricks is a Missouri Curators' Professor of Management and International Business at the University of Missouri St. Louis, where he also serves as the International Businesss Programs Director. He was formerly the Vice President for Academic Affairs at Thunderbird, The American Graduate School of International Management. Previously, he was a professor of International Business at Ohio State University (1970-81) where he served as Chair of the International Business Program and Chair of the College Senate and at the University of South Carolina (1981-92) where he served as the Director of the Faculty Development in International Business Program, the Director of the Ph.D. Program in International Business and as the Acting Director of the Masters of International Business Studies Program.
Dr. Ricks has written twelve books. His most recent books are Global Management, International Business: An Introduction, and Blunders in International Business. He is also the author of scores of articles and papers, his most recent ones appearing in such publications as the Strategic Management Journal, the Journal of International Business Studies, and the Journal of World Business. He has appeared on the "Today Show", testified before Congress and has had his work favorably reviewed in the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, Business Week, and Forbes.
Dr. Ricks is the Consulting Editor for the International Dimensions of Business Series, South-Western Publishing Company. Besides having served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of International Business Studies for eight years and the Journal of International Management for three years, Dr. Ricks is a member of the editorial board for nine journals.
He has served both the Academy of Management and the Academy of International Business in many capacities, most notably as Chair of the International Division of the Academy of Management and as the Treasurer of the Academy of International Business. He is a Fellow of the Academy of International Business.
