Chapter 8, Drill b: Practice using prepositions.

Each short Latin sentence contains a phrase in English in parentheses which can be expressed in Latin by a prepositional phrase. Provide that prepositional phrase, remembering what case each preposition takes.

Example:
puella (towards the mother) currit. Answer: ad matrem.

1. Graeci hastas (towards the wall) coniciunt.
2. (through the gate) ambulant.
3. omnes (away from the city) eunt.
4. Hector (around the walls) currit.
5. Hector (near death) manet.
6. Argus (out of the field) currit.
7. colonus (in the field) dormit.
8. colonus (into the fields) ambulat.
9. Quintus (with [his] friends) ludit.
10. Quintus (near the school) manet.
11. pueri (away from the princes) fugiunt.
12. coloni (through the streets) eunt.
13. pueri (around the house) currunt.
14. pater (with mother) cenat.
