Trunk-or-Treat is a service event geared toward UMSL families and the surrounding community. Started in 2010, this program has grown from 75 children to nearly 400 attending! It takes place on the Saturday before Halloween (if Halloween falls on a Saturday, it takes place on that day). This year's event is on October 31, 2020 from 12 p.m.-2 p.m. in the MSC Garage South (on North Campus).
It is intended to:
1) provide a safe and fun way for families to enjoy Halloween festivities
2) early exposure of a collegiate environment to children
3) increase the community’s knowledge about the campus. The attendants will enjoy various activity booths, coupled with “trunk-or-treating,” which means they go from trunk to trunk getting treats! Costumes are encouraged but not required. This event is for children ages 0-12.
UMSL student organizations, departments/offices, and individuals can provide trunks (including treats), or create an activity booth. Departments and offices are also welcome to share materials they may serve the needs of community members. Prizes for the best trunk and costume (student, staff, or faculty member) are on the line.
UMSL student organizations, offices, and departments can register to participate from September 16 until 11:45 p.m. on October 18 at https://myengage.umsl.edu/submitter/form/start/330767.
If you are interested in being a general volunteer, i.e. helping set up, facilitate, and break down the event, you can register at https://myengage.umsl.edu/submitter/form/start/330647. All General Volunteers will receive a FREE long-sleeved Trunk or Treat T-Shirt if the registration is received by 10/18/19 by 11:45 PM!
