Every October, UMSL takes part in a giving campaign to support the United Way of Greater St. Louis and CHC: Creating Healthier Communities Charities. In great communities, people come together to care for one another and invest in the resources the community needs. This is one effort to create a stronger community through collaboration, investment and service. UMSL is a community engaged university, and we work in many ways to strengthen and support the great work being done by our community partners to create a region where people can thrive.
CHC: Creating Healthier Community is a catalyst for good health, bringing communities, nonprofits, and businesses together around a shared commitment to better health and wellbeing working to address the barriers to good health and equity and create resilient communities where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
Creating Healthier Communities
The United Way of Greater St. Louis raises funds to support more than 160 health and human service agencies to serve 1 million people in our region each year. United Way agencies strengthen families, provide job counseling and training, offer affordable childcare, help the elderly, and more. The United Way supports a strong safety net of nonprofits to meet the vast needs of our community so our neighbors always have a place to turn for help.
