SCOPE: This collection consists of one typewritten manuscript copy of Come Hell or High Water: Adventures of Steamboating on the Western Rivers, the previous title to Gillespie's published work, Come Hell or High Water: A Lively History of Steamboating on the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers, published in 2001.  The manuscript is an earlier version of the work with some minor differences in wording.  The entire work is 557 pages, including the title page, dedication, introduction, work, epilogue, and endnotes.

ACCESS: This is collection P-049. This collection is available for on-site use only in the Rare Book and Manuscripts Reading Room. Some of the collection may be photocopied, digitally scanned or photographed, depending on condition. Researchers are advised to call ahead concerning changes in hours due to University intersessions and holidays.
