In the card files of the Missouri Historical Society are two clusters of indexing of The Waterways Journal. At the end of the card catalog drawers are cards indexing articles from 1949 to 1963. In the files under St. Louis are cards indexing The Waterways Journal from about 1992 to the present on St. Louis subjects.
The Waterways Journal microfilms and indexing project has been funded by the generosity of the Golden Eagle River Museum, Herman T. and Phenie R. Pott Foundation, the National Waterways Foundation, the J. Mack Gamble Fund of the Sons and Daughters of Pioneer Rivermen and The Waterways Journal Inc.

For volumes held in The Herman T. Pott National Inland Waterways Library Microfilm of The Waterways Journal for 1891 through 2001 (UMSL MERC MICRO HE623. W3) is available for use in the St. Louis Mercantile Library’s Rare Book Reading Room .
Microfilm rolls of The Waterways Journal for 1891 through 1950 (HE 623 .W3 UMS TJ MICRO) is available in the Thomas Jefferson Library periodical department.
