We aim to become a leader in the esports field, and we’re building a team poised to dominate the competitive gaming scene. Join a community of like-minded gamers, hone your skills under the guidance of top-tier coaches, and compete against other universities in exhilarating tournaments.
To kick the program off, the focus is on four games: League of Legends, Valorant, Smash Brother Ultimate and FIFA. In the future, there are plans to expand to include Call of Duty, Rocket League, Brawlhalla and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
The Esports Gaming Academy is a one-week program for 6-12th grade students interested in competitive gaming to develop their skills and learn about strategy in a high-tech environment centered around Esports. The Academy will take place at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, June 17-21, 2024 from 1:00-5:00 p.m. If you are interested in the program, please complete an application by May 24, 2024.

Bovey Zhang, UMSL's first esports coach, has a background in cybersecurity and earned a bachelor’s degree in information systems at Liberty University while serving as a signal support specialist in the U.S. Army. He founded his own esports company, Flash Point Esports, in 2016. Zhang has led two other collegiate programs before coming to UMSL.
