Congratulations on being admitted to UMSL! Here is a checklist of things you can be doing now to prepare for your transition to UMSL:
Log in to MyView MyView is a web-based form of communication that allows you to access your student records at UMSL (i.e. application information, registration, financial aid, billing info, etc.). Log into MyView using your SSO ID and password (that was sent to you after you first applied). Be sure to click the button "I agree" on the e-consent page to gain full access. If you are unable to log in, please contact the Office of Admissions at 314-516-UMSL (8675) or firstname.lastname@example.org.
You've got mail! UMSL uses Windows Live as the official campus communication tool. Go to the Technology Support Center email services page to activate your account. Most of your correspondence with the University will be via email, so please check your UMSL email account often. If you have questions, please contact the Help Desk at 314-516-6034 or email@example.com.
Complete the financial aid process We encourage all students to apply for financial aid by submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA will be available on January 1, 2015, and the priority deadline to apply is April 1, 2015. The FAFSA Code for UMSL is 002519. Please contact Student Financial Aid with questions about financial aid or for more information about scholarships, loans, or grants at (314) 516-5526 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Office hours are Monday-Thursday 8:00am-6:00pm, Friday 8:00am-5:00pm.
Contact your academic advisor to register for classes All students new to UMSL must meet with an academic advisor prior to registering for courses. Please contact the advising office in your college or school to schedule an advising appointment. *Note: All new students must take the ALEKS math placement exam before registering for classes. For information on the exam or to check out practice questions, visit our Campus Testing Center.
Register for Orientation New Student Orientation (NSO) is mandatory for all first-time college students. At NSO, students will finalize their schedule with an academic advisor, have a student ID card created, learn TRITON expectations and get acclimated to campus programs and services. For more information, contact the Office of New Student Programs at 314-516-5291 or email@example.com.
Get your parking permit and/or Metro Pass If you plan to have a car on campus, you need a parking permit. At NSO, you can pick up your student ID, Metro pass and parking permit. The expense for parking permits and Metro passes is included in UMSL student activity fees, so students charged this fee can pick them up at the Cashier's Office at no additional cost. The passes are valid for both Metrobus and Metrolink. For more information call (314) 516-5151 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Living on campus The Office of Residential Life and Housing at UMSL is committed to maintaining a learning environment that encourages student engagement, academic success, personal growth, and personal responsibility. Interested students should apply for housing online. Please feel free to contact the office for more information at (314) 516-6877 or email@example.com.
Paying your educational fees The Cashier's Office handles payment of semester fees. Feel free to contact the office for more information at 314-516-5151 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
