The garden in the front of CCB has not been well-tended for some time. Because of cutbacks, there is not enough
University's staff to maintain the bed, and finances to purchase new plants are even less sufficient. So, a group of faculty, staff, students and alumni
teamed up to change the look of the front bed. Our goal is to make it more attractive, of course, but also to help control
the waterflow in that area. We have chosen a Green Plan that includes native plants and a swale (for water control) that
will be sustainable in the future.
In the Fall 2009, there was some preparatory work, moving a tree,
digging a swale, rebuilding a retaining wall, inserting some drains and moving some rock. This page will document the
process of building our "new look."
