National Council for the Social Studies
For more than twenty years, Murphy has been an active member of the National Council for the
Social Studies (NCSS). She has served on numerous NCSS committees and was chair of the Middle School SIG, It is through this organization
that she obtained her love of diverse cultures and travel. She has received two grants from NCSS: One to travel to Japan to gather information for a unit of study on Japanese Cultures and the other to travel to Greece to gather materials to add to her study of Greek cultures.
